Sam Smith is entering a new musical era.

The GRAMMY®, BRIT, Golden Globe, and Oscar-winning artist has officially announced their fifth studio album, Hazel Eyes, arriving August 21 via Capitol Records. Alongside the announcement, Smith released the album’s uplifting lead single, “My Guy,” accompanied by an official music video.

Describing the project as one of their most personal to date, Smith revealed that Hazel Eyes has been more than three years in the making.

“This album is an incredibly special record to me,” Smith shared. “I have been writing it for over three years with a very small group of beautiful, dear friends of mine. This album is very personal, and I feel I have deepened myself as an artist through the making of it.”

Co-produced by Smith, Simon Aldred and David Odlum, Hazel Eyes explores themes of love, vulnerability, self-discovery, and artistic freedom. Much of the album was created in New York City—Smith’s current home—with collaborators including Feist, Shahzad Ismaily, and acclaimed string arranger Rob Moose. Recorded in part at the legendary Electric Lady Studios, the 12-track project blends elements of baroque pop, British folk, outlaw country, and alternative R&B while highlighting Smith’s signature vocals.

Leading the album is “My Guy,” a joyful celebration of finding lasting love. Co-written by Smith, Feist, and Shahzad Ismaily, the track also features harmonies from Feist and Moses Sumney, adding warmth and playful charm to the record.

“This is a song that I feel I have been waiting a lifetime to write and sing,” Smith said. “In this sometimes cold and distant world, I hope you can feel the love and the closeness of this recording.”

To celebrate the album announcement and kick off NYC Pride Weekend, Smith will perform a special intimate concert on June 26 at the Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center, honoring one of the most significant landmarks in LGBTQ+ history.

The new album follows Smith’s 2023 release Gloria, which featured the global hit “Unholy” with Kim Petras. Hazel Eyes will also include previously released songs “Love Is A Stillness” and “To Be Free,” the latter inspiring Smith’s recent residency performances in cities including Brooklyn, San Francisco, and Mexico City.

The residency series has featured surprise appearances from artists including Hozier, Ed Sheeran, Brandi Carlile, SIENNA SPIRO, and Kim Petras, with additional live dates expected to be announced following the album’s release.
