Three-time Grammy-winning artist Leon Thomas is set to receive the prestigious ASCAP Vanguard Award during the upcoming ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards celebration on June 25 in Los Angeles.

Presented by ASCAP, the Vanguard Award honors artists whose creativity and innovation are helping shape the future of music. Previous recipients include Victoria Monét, Migos, and Janelle Monáe.

ASCAP praised Leon Thomas for his impact on modern R&B, calling him one of the genre’s most creative and boundary-pushing artists today.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Leon Thomas grew up in a musical household and first began performing on Broadway in The Lion King before becoming widely known for his role on Victorious.

After transitioning from acting into music full-time, Thomas built an impressive career as a songwriter and producer, working with artists including Ariana Grande, Drake, Chris Brown, and Kehlani.

His breakout success as a solo artist continued with the release of his acclaimed album Mutt in 2024. The project featured the hit title track “Mutt,” which climbed to No. 1 on Billboard’s Radio Songs chart and earned double-platinum certification. The album also included the Gold-certified single “Yes It Is.”

The success of Mutt helped Leon Thomas earn Grammy Awards for Best R&B Album and Best Traditional R&B Performance while also winning Best New R&B Artist at the iHeartRadio Music Awards.

The singer recently released his new EP PHOLKS and is currently touring select cities alongside Bruno Mars on “The Romantic Tour.”

With songwriting, production, acting, and live performances all contributing to his growing legacy, Leon Thomas continues establishing himself as one of the leading voices in modern R&B.
