Kehlani returns with their self-titled fifth album, Kehlani — a project that feels like growth, healing, confidence, and pure R&B excellence. More than just another release, this album sounds like an artist who truly knows themself now. As Kehlani shared, this one is for the grown, sexy, and healed — and that energy is felt from start to finish.
Since the days of Cloud 19 in 2014, fans have watched Kehlani evolve in real time. We’ve seen the heartbreak, healing, self-discovery, motherhood, vulnerability, and artistic growth. This self-titled era feels like the reward for that journey — a fully realized artist stepping into their power.

Sonically, the album pulls inspiration from late ’90s and early 2000s R&B, while still sounding fresh and modern. It’s smooth, intentional, sexy, and rich with real songwriting. For me, this project cements Kehlani as today’s princess of R&B.
What makes the album stand out most is how vulnerable Kehlani remains. They touch every side of love: being loved, craving love, making love, protecting love, and learning how to receive it. There’s honesty here that makes the music feel personal, but still relatable.
Favorite records include “You Got It,” which feels like both an affirmation and a plea for partnership. Kehlani opens up about always carrying the weight and wanting someone who can finally say, “I got it.” It has everything a real song needs — verses, melodies, bridge, emotion, and replay value.
“Oooh” is an undeniable hit. Sensual, smooth, and addictive, it showcases Kehlani’s grown-woman energy while their vocals glide effortlessly. With contributions from Keri Hilson and Tank, the record feels like classic R&B with a modern edge.
“I Need You” featuring Brandy is another standout. The chemistry between the two is natural and timeless, blending two generations of R&B excellence into one beautiful moment.
And then there are the features — iconic across the board. Lil Wayne, Big Sean, Clipse, Missy Elliott, Usher, Cardi B, Brandy, and Leon Thomas all add star power without overshadowing Kehlani’s vision.
Kehlani is polished, vulnerable, sexy, and mature. It’s the sound of someone who has lived, learned, and turned that journey into art. Full 10 out of 10.
